COUNTY OF HAWAPI <br />JNtY OF y� <br />CJ;'L i <br />L�liQi <br />r� oF�i+►a+ <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAPI <br />345 25 <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAI`I, <br />DEPARTMENT OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES, DIVISION OF FORESTRY <br />AND WILDLIFE, FOR MUTUAL AID AND PUBLIC SAFETY COORDINATION. <br />WHEREAS, Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes requires the consent of the <br />Council in order for the County to enter into an agreement with the federal government or any <br />other public body respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted to the <br />County by law and furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with <br />projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department (hereinafter "HFD") wishes to enter into a <br />mutual aid agreement with the State of Hawaii, through its Department of Land and Natural <br />Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife, (hereinafter "DOFAW"); and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of this mutual aid agreement is to establish clear working <br />protocols for resource sharing, unified command structures, and coordinated responses in the <br />event of wildfires that exceed RFD's or DOFAW's individual capacity; and <br />WHEREAS, this agreement will help facilitate HFD's ability to serve and protect life, <br />property, and natural resources in our County through cooperative collaboration and keep our <br />community safe; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, <br />pursuant to Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter <br />into an agreement with the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, <br />Division of Forestry and Wildlife, for the purposes hereinabove described. <br />
