57. According to §2-136,, "public purpose"' is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the
interests in the following areas. Please select all the public benefits to be derived from your County fund
request:
Culture and the arts
58, In 2,,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these funds.
The main goal of the event is to promote community building and a positive gathering. Measuring how much fun everyone
is having is a challenging task to quantify. The number of people who attend indicates whether the event is popular, but it
is harder to measure "a good time" with numbers. A program locating where the musicians and food vendors are can be
handed out, which actually helps provide an idea of how many people have attended. One evening a few years ago, an
organizer spent the night acting as a valet parking attendant in the H6lualoa Elementary School parking lot for the Music
and Light Festival. The joy on people'rs faces as they returned to their cars was evidence enough that the evening had
achieved the desired outcome of community building and having a good time together. Attendees shared stories of seeing
friends they hadn't seen in years., and this event is cherished for that reason. Many offered thanks and said, "See you next
year."
