working toward the restoration of the historic Bond Memorial Library building. The KHC serves as a repository for artifacts,,
documents,, photos,, books, art, and cultural exhibits, and provides a gathering space for local nonprofits,, school groups,,
and community members. The project funded by this grant will enhance KHC"s media lab and reading corner. The media
lab will focus on communications,, provide state-of-the-art training for youth and all interested residents to document
Kohala's' heritage,, record "talk story" sessions,, and collect ""Living Treasures,'° for the archive and media presentations. The
reading corner features donated books on Hawaiian history, legends, royal families, la'au lapaau (medicinal plants), native
flora, ghost stories, and ethnic diversity, with grant funds supporting the addition of seating to enhance visitor comfort.
KHC engages both kupuna and youth in creating programming., exhibits, and guides., and hosts talks, workshops, and
cultural events. These improvements will expand KHC's role as a center for heritage education., community connection., and
cultural preservation while providing resources for residents and visitors to learn about North Kohala's history and
