In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project. <br />The KaT Coffee Festival is a signature annual event that celebrates the heritage, quality, and resilience of Ka'u's <br />coffee -growing community. Held in Pahala, the festival brings together local farmers, artisans, educators, and cultural <br />practitioners to showcase KaT-grown coffee through tastings, workshops, farm tours, and performances. The 2026 <br />festival will expand its reach with bilingual programming, youth engagement, and international outreach to elevate <br />Ka'u's reputation as a premium origin. Funding from the County's Contingency Relief Fund will support venue costs, <br />cultural performances, educational materials, and logistical coordination. The festival strengthens local pride, promotes <br />economic development, and fosters deeper connections between producers and consumers. It is a grassroots <br />celebration with global resonance anchored in the land, the people, and the legacy of Ka'u. <br />*44. 501(c)(3) Mission Statement <br />To assist the people of the Big Island in achieving sustainable development while caring for and appreciating their <br />natural environment; to ensure broadened economic opportunities, enriched communities, and better lives. <br />*45. In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 501(c)(3) is connected to the project. <br />The Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council (BIRCDC) serves as the fiscal sponsor for the K2'0 <br />Coffee Festival, aligning closely with its mission to promote sustainable development and community enrichment. The <br />festival exemplifies BIRCDC's vision by conserving cultural traditions, enhancing economic opportunities for local <br />farmers, and fostering environmental stewardship through educational outreach. BIRCDC provides administrative <br />oversight, grant compliance, and strategic support to ensure the festival's success and accountability. <br />*46.
