As the Founder and Board Chair of the Hawaii Island K9 Association, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, I respect- fully request your approval to make another donation to the Hawaii Police Department. The mission of the Hawaii Island K9 Association is to provide both financial and non -tangible support to agencies and organiza- tions responsible for the welfare of working canines. Our goal is to ensure safe, comfortable, and sanitary kennels; essential equipment; well -trained canines and handlers; and access to professional veterinary care as needed. With the assistance of a Gold -Level donor and our fundraising efforts, we have secured funding to provide a pre -trained narcotics canine, along with the training and certification of the assigned canine handler. We are seeking your approval to donate this resource to the Hawaii Police Department Canine Program on the west side of Ha- waii Island. We respectfully request that the Hawaii Police Department initiate the process to accept this donation and obtain the necessary approvals from the Hawaii County Council. Additionally, we request approval for a County of Hawaii Police Depart- ment K9 handler to attend a two -week training course in California. All associated expenses for this training will be covered by the donation. The total value of this donation is $31,000.00. We also respectfully request permission for representatives of the Hawaii Island K9 Association and our Gold -Level donor to be present at the donation ceremony and to participate in a media release, consistent with previous donations.
