4. Activities* <br />List the major tasks the organization will perform to serve participants nrthe community through the prograntiservire.(750-character limit). <br />-Take in 600+ cats a year from Hawai'i County Animal Control and Protection and the community, placing them <br />in foster homes where they receive medical care including neutering and microchips, in preparation to become <br />family pets. < <br />- 2 in -person foster classes a year, open to the public, with the goal of training and recruiting foster families. <br />Provide guidance on common medical issues, intake, and socialization. <br />- Continual networking with other rescue partners for monthly spay/neuter and medical care. Approximately 50+ <br />cats a month fixed - both fosters and assisting the community <br />- 12 adoption fairs a year <br />- Ongoing adoption availability at Hilo Petro rubbles <br />- Regular adoption followup and support for the community <br />5. Outputs* <br />List the quantifiable and countable results of the program/service, including participants served; events held, or items distributed (750- <br />character limit). <br />- 600+ catsspay/neutered annually (50+ per month) <br />- 600+ cats microchipped every year <br />-200+ cats who would not have otherwise received care will be seen by a vet <br />- 1.,200 vaccinations administered <br />- 660 cats taken into foster homes annually (260 from Animal Control, 400 from the community). <br />-.600 cats adopted each year, providing 435 families with a healthy new pet <br />- 2 foster classes per year, averaging 20 participants each (impacting 40 families) <br />-12'adoption fairs per year, resulting In -80 adoptions <br />-6-8 cats available at Petro Hilo at all times, resulting in -400 adoptions annually <br />-100+ cats adopted via private adoptions and website inquiries <br />6. Measureable Outcomes* <br />List the changes, Improvements, or benefits that participants and the public will experience as a result of the progmmrserdoe (750-character <br />Ifmft). <br />MA provides microchipped, spayed/neutered, and vaccinated rats to the public for affordable adoption fees, <br />promoting a healthier pet population, a healthier environment, and reduced veterinary costs for Hawaii families. <br />MA does not adopt out unfixed cats. Through spay/neuter services, we prevent approximately 3,600 kittens <br />from being born in HaWai'1 each year, which compounds into tens of thousands of prevented births —reducing <br />abandoned litters and community burden. <br />Mierochipping, required by Hawaii County, Is the most effective way to reunite lost pets with owners, with a 38% <br />return rate compared. to 1..8% without chips. MA microchips all adopted animals to keep families together and <br />improve community safety. <br />7. List the elements of a sustainability plan to support the proposed programiservice beyond the grant period to <br />include: <br />a. One or more strategies to be implemented (500-character limit):* <br />MA sustains our program through diverse funding —donations, adoption fees, grants from Petco and (hopefully) <br />Hawat't County —while maintaining a 100%volunteer workforce and expanding our foster network. By <br />strengthening partnerships with island and mainland rescues and veterinary providers, we secure affordable <br />medical care and continue community education, ensuring the progmm's long-term impact beyond this grant. <br />We believe that "It Takes an Island; —working together to keep Hawal'I Hawafl. <br />b. if any, who the sustainability partner(s) is/are (and their roles/responsibilities) (500-character limit): * <br />MA works. with Hawaii County Animal Control as our primary cat transfer partner. Petro serves as our main <br />adoption outlet and a grant funder. PetFix, Good Karma, and Aloha Animal Oasis provide spay/neuter services at <br />reduced rates, while Aloha Animal Alliance supplies medications affordably. We collaborate with rescues and <br />clinics to intake animals when their space is limited or adoption is needed. Hawaii Island Realtors and the Herald <br />Tribune have recently agreed to assist with marketing. <br />
