46. According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the
interests in the following areas. Please select all the public benefits to be derived from your County fund
request:
Culture and the arts
47. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these
funds.
With the requested $9,500 to support videography and event security services, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum
anticipates several measurable outcomes. The event is expected to draw more than 6,000 residents and visitors to the
heart of Lower Puna, increasing foot traffic and generating economic activity for restaurants, vendors, and small
businesses throughout Downtown Pahoa. Through dedicated security services, Activate Puna will provide a safe,
welcoming, and family -friendly environment where'ohana, from kupuna, makua to keiki, can gather to enjoy local
food, music, and crafts, ensuring responsible crowd management and a positive experience for attendees. In addition,
professional videography will document the event and capture stories from the community, allowing the museum to
share and preserve narratives of resilience rooted in the community's recovery following the 2018 Kilauea eruption,
when Lower Puna came together to rebuild and reconnect. Together, these outcomes will support the local economy,
create a safe space for community gathering, and amplify the enduring story of Puna's resilience.
