�tr °•°'fir <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />'ATE OF•N�a <br />RESOLUTION NO. 548 .2fc, <br />A RESOLUTION AWARDING FIVE STEWARDSHIP GRANTS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />ACCESS, OPEN SPACE, AND NATURAL RESOURCES PRESERVATION <br />MAINTENANCE FUND AS RECOMMENDED BY THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE <br />FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2027. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 10-16 of the Charter of the County of Hawaii <br />(hereinafter "the Charter"), non-profit organizations may apply for and receive grant-in-aid <br />funding out of the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Maintenance <br />Fund for stewardship projects directly related to "public safety maintenance and preservation" of <br />lands and easements acquired with the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources <br />Preservation Fund; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-217 of the Hawaii County Code, the Public <br />Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission (hereinafter the <br />"Commission") reviewed eight applications for stewardship grants and conducted interviews <br />with six grant applicants over two meetings held on November 10, 2025, and January 12, 2026; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, on January 29, 2026, the Commission recommended to the Director of <br />Finance that six stewardship applications be awarded grant funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Finance recommends awarding five stewardship grants, <br />totaling $477,226.50, to four nonprofit organizations; and <br />WHEREAS, the recommended grants, including recipients, fund amounts, and projects <br />to be funded, are described in "Exhibit A", attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; <br />now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAPI that, in <br />accordance with Section 10-16(h) of the Charter, five stewardship grants are hereby awarded to <br />
