The 2026 Hawari VEX IQ Regional Celebration Tournament is a robotics competition designed to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education through hands-on, project -based learning for elementary- and middle -school students. Participating teams represent a diverse range of public, charter, and private schools and educational programs across the island. The event is part of the VEX IQ Robotics Competition program, an internationally recognized educational robotics initiative that challenges students to design, build, and program robots to complete age -appropriate engineering challenges aligned with real -world problem solving. Students will engage in structured competition matches in which robots are tested against defined objectives, as well as judged interviews in which teams present their engineering design process, teamwork strategies, and coding approaches. The event emphasizes creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and persistence through iterative design. The tournament will be held at the Kenyan K. Beals Community Robotics Center, located on the 2nd floor of the Mokupapa Discovery Center, providing a dedicated STEM -focused venue equipped to support robotics competitions, volunteers, referees, and judging panels. The event will also engage community volunteers, industry mentors, and STEM professionals who will serve as referees, judges, and technical support. * 39. 501(c)(3) Mission Statement Unleash the innovator in every child. *40. Hawari Science and Technology Museum (HSTM) will co -host and support the 2026 Hawari VEX IQ Regional Celebration Tournament as part of its mission to advance STEM education and inspire innovation among Hawari Island youth. The organization directly supports the event by providing venue access, coordinating volunteers and judges, and assisting with event logistics at the Kenyan K. Beals Community Robotics Center. The Kenyan K. Beals Community Robotics Center is a joint project between Hawaii Science and Technology Museum and the Mokupapapa Discovery Center, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding hands-on STEM learning opportunities in East Hawari. *41.
