In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project.
The Hawari International Science Experience (HISE) is an annual 5-day science and culture program designed and
hosted by high school student leaders on Hawaii Island. The program brings together students from across Hawari
Island and invites international schools to participate in collaborative science learning experiences that highlight
innovation, sustainability, and the island's unique environmental and cultural resources. The 2026 program will take
place July 19-23. During this event, participants engage in hands-on science workshops, field -based learning
experiences, collaborative problem -solving projects, and discussions with professionals working in Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and environmental fields. Students will travel island -wide to explore its diverse
ecosystems and scientific research environments. Activities introduce participants to current scientific advances,
sustainability innovations, and STEM career pathways while strengthening collaboration between schools and
communities across the island.
