• <br /> Mtvop•'• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI I •� - :• STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 569 26 <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS FROM LATER <br /> FISCAL YEARS TO ENTER INTO A MULTI-YEAR LEASE AGREEMENT FOR <br /> WAREHOUSE SPACE TO BE USED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. <br /> WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the Charter of the County of Hawai`i (hereinafter"the <br /> Charter")provides, in part,that"any contract, lease or other obligation requiring the payment of <br /> funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year shall be made <br /> or approved by resolution"; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Public Works (hereinafter the"Department")wishes to <br /> enter into a multi-year lease agreement,with a term of three years, for use of warehouse space <br /> identified as Bays Al/A2, located at 73-4081 Hulikoa Drive, Kailua-Kona, being a portion of the <br /> property identified as Tax Map Key No. (3) 7-3-058:019, (hereinafter, the"Warehouse")owned <br /> by Geo Investment Company, Inc.; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Warehouse will be used by the Department's West Hawai`i Traffic <br /> Signals and Street Lights section(hereinafter, the"Section") for storage and as a covered work <br /> area; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the primary responsibilities of the Section is the operation and <br /> maintenance of traffic signals in West Hawaii; and <br /> • <br /> WHEREAS,while much of the Section's traffic signal maintenance and operational <br /> work is on Highway 11, Highway 19,and Kuakini Highway in Kailua-Kona,the Section <br /> currently operates from a County-owned baseyard shared with the Department's Automotive <br /> Division in Captain Cook;and <br /> WHEREAS,the planned renovation of a County-owned property on Hulikoa Drive to <br /> permanently accommodate the Section will not be completed for several years; and <br /> WHEREAS, leasing the Warehouse will provide the Section with a location closer to the <br /> primary response area and create much-needed space in the baseyard for use by the Automotive <br /> Division; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department estimates an initial security deposit of$4,896 and the <br /> monthly cost of this agreement to be approximately: <br /> 1. $3,240 from May 1, 2026,to March 31,2027; <br /> 2. $3,360 from April 1, 2027,to March 31,2028;and <br /> 3. $3,480 from April 1, 2028,to February 28,2029; now,therefore, <br />
