The Medical Center is bcated at 8C-u Ululani Street on approximately 67,315 square feet of land. Although the zoning of the property is iZM-1, a special Use Permit 0949) was obtained to devebp the facility. Though this is a residential zone, it is my understanding that commercial projects ad jacent to the Medical Center have been granted variances to albw signs based on commercial requirements. Due to the nature of this facility, which consists of 10 medical offices, we are asking for a variance to albw for the construction of a commercial ground sign not to exceed 32 square feet. This would be in lieu of the present residential requirement of 6 square feet, maximum. The proposed street sign will be constructed of individual plastic letters, mounted on a bw concrete bbck wall. The concrete bock will be covered with cobred plaster to match the Medical Center (see attached drawings and samples). The face of the sign fronting Uk~lani Street totals 30.5 square feet.
