BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> The State Health Department, which funds the Emergency Medical <br /> Services (EMS) program, has authorized the start-up of a new <br /> advanced life support (ALS) ambulance in the Volcano area to <br /> commence operation October 1, 2000. Lodging facilities for the <br /> personnel are to be provided by the Federal Government. <br /> <br /> This action provides for the creation of fire fighter positions <br /> for this station and provides the necessary funding.
