<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> SCHEDULE A <br /> HCPD OCCUPANT PROTECTION <br /> <br /> MISSION/GOAL: <br /> <br /> Reduce motor vehicle front seat occupant fatalities and reduce injuries and/or <br /> fatalities to children by increasing child safety seat use. <br /> <br /> STRATEGIES: <br /> <br /> • Specific enforcement periods will be targeted to supplement the STEP <br /> enforcement program. These periods include Thanksgiving, January 1-15, 2001, <br /> Buckle Up Week in May 2001, and Labor Day weekend. <br /> <br /> • Use 850 hours of overtime for enforcement efforts. <br /> <br /> • Issue 3025 citations for seatbelt and child restraint violations. <br /> <br /> • Issue 430 citations for violations. <br /> <br /> • Affect 20 arrests of persons during enforcement projects for warrant or other <br /> violations. <br /> <br /> SOLUTION/IMPLEMENTATION: <br /> <br /> • The grant will provide four (4) officers on overtime at each federally funded <br /> seatbelt checkpoint. <br /> <br /> • Issue 3025 seatbelt and child restraint citations, 430 other citations and affect 20 <br /> arrests for warrant or other violations. <br /> <br /> • Use 850 hours of overtime for enforcement effort. <br /> <br /> • Use public service announcements to provide education to increase occupant <br /> protection usage. <br /> <br /> • Attend Life Savers Conference. <br /> <br /> EVALUATION: <br /> <br /> 0 Increase seat belt usage rate from 80.3% in 1999 to 85% in 2001. <br />
