Most important, there is a potential danger to and
liability from pedestrians walking along the roadway, as many do.
The area next to the rock wall could provide a natural walkway
and viewing area.
4. The presence of cars parked directly along the wall
surrounding the site indicates a lack of respect for the spirit
and the integrity of this most special Hawaiian place.
The site has been restored with sensitivity, care and respect.
It provides an opportunity for education for visitors and
kamaaina and a place of pride -in Hawai`i's sacred traditions and
its culture - for all the sons and daughters of Hawaii Nei.
We feel that for reasons of access, safety, and above all respect
for the special nature of this land, the area directly adjacent
to the site should be left unobstructed by parked vehicles.
Mahalo for your attention to our concerns.
Sincerely,
j ~4~
K V
The Board of Trustees
by its Regent
cc: Stephen Yamashiro
James Arakaki
Henry Cho
Bobbie Jean Leithead-Todd
Joe Reynolds
Curtis Tyler
Joseph Spencer
