My name is Terry Schoneberg and 1 am a Realtor here in Hilo. I AM WRITING
YOU AS A CONCERNED property owner in Hwn Paradise Park. My partner and I have
a home on 19th st, which backs up to a 31 acre undeveloped area, which your
property either borders, or is near. SEE MAP.
ARC YOU AWARIe that there are plans to build a park with paved
walkways on this 31 acre site?
WE ARE VERY opposed to this plan and are informing you and requesting your help in
stopping this project. There are many reasons to not develop the same. A
committee is gung ho on obtaining a government grant to proceed and will be
presenting same at the Dec. meeting of the Hui....
HERE is why we are opposed:
1) Being near or bordering on this area (which is heavy forest and secluded}, would in
our minds bring in kids, crime and great access to the rear of our properties for
thefts, etc. What a great secluded spot for the kids to party, trash and desecrate.
2) The Hawaiian Paradise Park Community Master Plan contains archeologists review
of the area and indicates that it very well could have prehistoric artifacts and

significance, and that NO DECISION for the area should be made before a full study..

There appears to be burial sites on the property and artifcacts, which would be

compromised if the area is open to the public. The committee has dismissed our

concerns and is planning to proceed with approvals for the park, without the needed

study.
-~-J
