Hamakua Regional Plan: The project site is located within a planning subzone <br /> (Subzone 2) of the Hamakua Regional Plan, which was adopted by the County Council <br /> by Resolution No. 244-90 on November 8, 1990. The Plan recommends that the <br /> expansion of Honokaa town proceed in a northerly direction, away from the pmjxt site. <br /> 17. County Zoning: Agricultural-5 acres (A-Sa) <br /> 18. Special Management Area: The project site is not located within the Special <br /> Management Area. <br /> DF.SCRiPTiON OF THF. PROTECTS 1RR0 IN - RF.A <br /> 19. SubjeM Property: The project area is bordered by the Hawaii Belt Road to the north, <br /> Loke Street to the west and the I{ahaupu Gulch running along its eastern boundary. The <br /> project area has a frontage along Loke Street of approximately 1,000 feet. A smgle <br /> family dwelling is located on Parcel 124. Paroe124 is currently maintained m <br /> approximately 12 acres for cattle pasture and one acre rn macadamra nut orchard. <br /> <br /> 20. USDA Soil Survey Report: Soils located within the prolect area consist of Kukarau <br /> Silty Clay Loam (KuD). This soil consist ofwell-drained silty clay loanrs that formed in <br /> volcanic ash. In a representative profile, the surface layer is very dark gra}nsh-brown <br /> silty clay loam about 10 inches thick. The subsoil is dark-brown silty clay loam about 40 <br /> inches flock. These layers are underlain by basalt. This soil dehydrates ureversrbly mto <br /> aggregates the srze of fine sand. Permeabilrty is moderately rapid, runoff is slow and the <br /> erosion hazard is slight. This soil is used mostly for sugarcane. Small azeas are used for <br /> truck crops, macadamia nuts and pastors. <br /> <br />
