The United States Geological Survey (USGS) designates the area as to Lava Flow Hazard <br /> Zone 3, on a scale of ascending nsk from 9 to 1 However, since the enure city of Hilo lies <br /> within this hazard zone, there are lmle or no nutigation measures that can be undertaken <br /> to reduce the threat of tsunami inundation <br /> According to the County of Hawau Building Code, the enure island of Hawau falls wttlun <br /> Earthquake Hazard Zone 4 As there are no plans for any new construction on the <br /> property, and the existing structure complies with the County of Hawau Building Code, <br /> no rruttgatton measures will need to be taken to address this hazard <br /> D. Flora and Fauna <br /> Because the property has been previously disturbed, ~s part of an urban area, and is a <br /> residence with a landscaped yard, the only vegetation on the site is introduced landscape <br /> plants The possibdiry of encountering any rare or endangered plants on the property is <br /> extremely remote <br /> Also, due to the reasons mentioned above, the posstbdtty of the property being a habitat <br /> for any rare or endangered species is equally remote <br /> E. Historic/Archaeolo ical Resources <br /> Again, due to previous disturbance of the property, the poss~bdity of histoncal or <br /> archaeological sites on the property ~s extremely remote <br /> F. Water and Coastal Resources <br /> The subject property is located approximately one (1) mile from the shoreline, and <br /> approximately one half (''/z) mile from the Weiloa River <br /> An ewsttng sewer meets the needs of the subject property and therefore there should be <br /> little or no impact to the coastal waters as a result of the requested change of zone Also, <br /> due to the distance from the shoreline, there will be no impacts on shoreline access <br /> G. Air Quality. Noise. and Dust <br /> Because the subject property is located m an urban area, lies in the comdor which <br /> incoming flights to Hilo International ,Airport fly several Mmes daily and abuts a city street <br /> there is an existing high ambient noise level associated vnth the subject property <br /> Craven these factors the applicant's proposed change of zone, and any new activities <br /> associated with it, should have little or no impact on surrounding properties noise levels <br /> The only additional noise generated would be associated with the very rrunimal increase m <br /> vehicular traffic coming to and leaving the property <br /> <br /> Environmental Report Ttv1IC 2-2-34 95 <br /> Page No 4 <br /> <br />
