County of Hawaii <br /> Parks & Recreation <br /> Panaewa Rainforest Zoo <br /> phone (808) 959-7224 + faz (808) 981-2316 <br /> cohzoo(djinterpac.net <br /> DONATIONS FOR PANA'EWA RAINFOREST ZOO <br /> The Fnends of the Panaewa Zoo (FOZ) would ltke to upgrade and enhance the <br /> <br /> reptile/amphibian exhibit at the zoo. They have spent numerous volunteer hours <br /> cleazing, paznting, and creating new terrariums for exhibits. To complete the project, <br /> they would like to purchase and donate 12 assorted species of Dart Frogs This will <br /> include: 3) Azure Dart Frogs, 3) Strawberry Dart Frogs, 3) French Guyana Dart Frogs, <br /> and 3) Mantella Frogs. These Frogs aze colorful rainforest species from South Amenca, <br /> and will add greatly to the new exhibit that will be entitled "Jewels of the Rainforest " <br /> <br /> The Department of Agnculture Plant Quarantine Branch has inspected the zoo facilities <br /> and issued the permit to allow importation of the Frogs <br /> <br /> The Fnends of the Panaewa Zoo (FOZ) has purchased a 40' X 60' steel greenhouse <br /> <br /> construction package. The East Hawaii ICiwanis service project at the zoo will provide <br /> <br /> the labor for construction of the building FOZ is also purchasing fence panels to provide <br /> <br /> stalls for anunals in the completed structure This project when completed, will house the <br /> <br /> vanous Children's Petting Zoo animals that have become such a popular attraction every <br /> <br /> week It will also allow for additional azimals to used for education/petting zoo <br /> <br /> $1 x,000 00 was appropnated by FOZ, and will cover the cost of matenals <br /> <br />
