<br /> . ~ <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 3 9 7 9 6 <br /> INITIATING A GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT TO DELETE THE NORTHERN <br /> EXTENSION OF KOMOHANA STREET <br /> WHEREAS, the General Plan of the County of Hawaii was adopted by Ordinance <br /> No. 89-142 which included the Facilities Map (referenced to as Exhibit "B"), depicting the public <br /> and cultural facilities, public utilities and safety, transportation, and geological features for each <br /> nine districts of the Island of Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Facilities Map identified the extension of the Komohana Street as an 80- <br /> foot right-of--way secondary arterial extending in a northerly direction from its intersection at <br /> Waianuenue Avenue towards Honomu and in a southerly direction from its intersection at <br /> Ainaola Street towazds Keaau; and <br /> •WHEREAS, the proposed Komohana Street extension at its northern terminus is a "paper <br /> road" which stretches over existing residences and across the Wailuku River; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council finds that the Komohana Street extension at its northern <br /> terminus as designated on the General Plan Facilities Map would not be feasible due to excessive <br /> costs necessary to construct such a roadway across the Wailuku River and to purchase the <br /> affected properties; and <br /> WHEREAS, upon a resolution adopted by two-thirds of its entire membership, the <br /> Council may initiate amendments to the General Plan by requiring the Planning Director to <br /> conduct a study to determine the feasibility of a proposed amendment. <br /> Exhibit B <br /> <br />
