EDUCATION, PREVENTION AND YOUTH INVOLVEMENT -GOAL <br /> Increase awareness of adults and minors about laws and problems related to <br /> underage drinking. <br /> OBJECTIVE #1 <br /> Make use of a vanety ofstate-of--the-art methods to teach and motivate adults, youth, and <br /> professionals to prevent alcohol use and abuse. <br /> ACTIVITIES: <br /> I Create educational programs for youth and parents on the problems of underage alcohol use <br /> 2 Develop more altemanve teen programs to encourage positive behavioral habits (dances, <br /> sporting activities, social activities) <br /> 3 Develop programs that try to change the "soctal norm' of underage dnrilung. <br /> <br /> 4 Develop public service announcements (FBA's) to educate youth and adults regazding <br /> underage alcohol use. <br /> 5 Develop an educational program to address parents and children who violate liquor laws, <br /> working with HPD Have peer speakers, go over ramifications, etc. Look at the recidivism <br /> ' rate to measure impact of the program. <br /> <br /> 6. Focus oq pazent-family education and peer education. <br /> <br /> 7. Youth involvement is essential. Continue collaboration with MADD and their statewide <br /> convention, Coalition for a Drug Free Hawazi, Hawaii Police Departments DARE day, and <br /> Department of Education, CDFH and HMSA Express Youiself Dtug Free Rally <br /> 8. Assess the problem of binge dilnking on college campuses. <br /> <br /> 9. Consider wonting together with the Department of Education and the Department of Health <br /> to implement an undeiage diwking prevention curriculum in the schools statewide. <br /> 10. Use underage persons who violate the liquor law as minor decoys. <br /> 11. Assess the impact of fatal vision goggles program. <br /> <br />
