<br /> CIVIL SERVICE <br /> The salary and wages account has been amended to include the <br /> recently approved position responsible for the County's <br /> Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Program <br /> (EEO/AA) and for compliance with the Americans with <br /> Disabilities Act (ADA). <br /> PUBLIC WORKS <br /> In the Engineering Division, a Civil Engineer IV position <br /> has been funded and will be assigned to assist the Kona <br /> Office. The other amendments in Public Works include <br /> organizational changes and deletion of a personal computer <br /> purchased with current year's funds. <br /> FIRE <br /> The Fire Department has added funds and three (3) fire <br /> equipment operator positions to staff an Ocean View station. <br /> Also added to the budget are the grant and matching funds <br /> for the Kalaoa station fire truck and the private <br /> contribution to purchase additional fire rescue equipment. <br /> The adjustments to the EMS and LEPC grants have been <br /> incorporated in the revised budget request. <br /> <br /> ANIMAL CONTROL <br /> The funding for animal control has been revised to reflect <br /> the request to provide status quo level of service. <br /> CIVIL DEFENSE <br /> The amendment to Civil Defense's budget reflects the <br /> increase in the County's matching share for the County <br /> Hazard Mitigation Plan. <br /> LIQUOR CONTROL <br /> Funding for the second year of the Project PAU grant has <br /> been included in Liquor Control's budget. <br /> PROSECUTING ATTORNE Y <br /> The Prosecutor's Office is requesting county funding for <br /> three (3) new positions (attorney, investigator and clerk) <br /> to continue the Violence Against Children (VACA) unit, a <br /> special prosecution team devoted to child victim cases, such <br /> as sexual abuse, assaults and neglect. The attorney <br /> position, after shuffling of staff, will serve as the <br /> County's match for their Bryne Grant. <br /> <br />
