<br /> PROGRAM/BUDGET REVIEW <br /> <br /> PAGE 2 <br /> <br /> FY 1997-98 <br /> 3) To effect implementation of the Hawaiian heritage <br /> corridor concept through community-based non-profit <br /> organizations located throughout the Big Island; 4) To <br /> encourage enhancement of the health infrastructure, and <br /> to evaluate the potential for retirement communities on <br /> the Big Island. <br /> Energy <br /> Expanded Goal: To build on present efforts in the areas <br /> of energy conservation in County facilities, to promote <br /> the use of renewable energy resources and to foster the <br /> growth of high technology industries on the Island of <br /> Hawaii. <br /> New Objectives: 1) To incorporate the use of life cycle <br /> costing criteria in the County of Hawaii procurement <br /> process; 2) To promote renewable energy development in <br /> the utility planning program and through community-based <br /> initiatives; 3) To foster the growth of existing and new <br /> scientific and high technology industries on the Island <br /> of Hawaii. <br /> On-going Objectives: 1) To implement energy conservation <br /> measures by means of Performance Contracting in all <br /> County-owned buildings with scope for cost-effective <br /> retrofits; 2) To implement cost-effective energy <br /> conservation programs in the Wastewater Division and the <br /> Department of Water Supply. <br /> Municipal Reference Center <br /> On-going Goals: To maintain and disseminate <br /> statistical, reference and program information to County <br /> and State agencies, and the general public. <br /> New Objectives: 1) To maintain a clip file of articles <br /> of interest to, and in support of departmental programs, <br /> and to generate a semi-annual and annual subject index of <br /> articles affecting Hawaii County; 2) To work with Data <br /> Processing on the accessibility of the County of Hawaii <br /> Data Book via the Internet on the County of Hawaii's home <br /> page. <br /> On-going Objectives: 1) To collect statistical <br /> information for and to publish the Hawaii County Data <br /> Book; 2) To compile economic data (showing previous year <br /> comparisons) and distribute to interested parties as the <br /> Countv of Hawaii Monthly Statistics; 3) To fulfill the <br /> research and informational needs of the County through <br /> the acquisition and maintenance of relevant research <br /> materials; 4) To respond to all requests for statistical, <br /> reference and program information; 5) To review and <br /> update the Hawaii Countv Facts and Figures, published <br /> annually by the Department of Business, Economic <br /> Development and Tourism. <br /> <br />
