PROGRAM & BUDGET EVIEW QUESTIONNAIRE <br /> PAGE 3 <br /> <br /> MARCH 6, 1997 <br /> SEMI-ANNUAL PORTABLE TOOL TESTING conducted by P.W. <br /> Electrical Shop meets HIOSH STDS and prevents injury to <br /> workers by removing/repairing potential accident causing <br /> equipment from service. <br /> Budgeted: $ 150 - Certification tags <br /> EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM by contractor, assists <br /> employees that may have physical illness, emotional <br /> problems, family and marital conflicts, alcohol and drug <br /> problems which can create difficulties on the job and <br /> hardships at home. <br /> Budgeted: $22,800 <br /> SAFETY INCENTIVE PROGRAM is a program that rewards <br /> accident-free employees and is an incentive to help reduce <br /> workers' compensation costs. <br /> Budgeted: $15,413 <br /> DRIVER/OPERATOR TRAINING AND MONITORING OF EQUIPMENT <br /> OPERATORS, MECHANICS AND SUPERVISORS meet state and <br /> federal requirements and prevent injury, associated costs, <br /> equipment damage and reduces operating costs. <br /> SAFETY INSPECTIONS OF DEPARTMENT/SECTION OPERATIONS <br /> required by HIOSH to prevent/reduce possibility of fines <br /> for violations cited by OSHA inspectors. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII SAFETY AND HEALTH WEEK PROGRAM focuses on <br /> the intent and goals of the County's Safety and Health <br /> program and recognizes employees who have achieved long <br /> standing Accident-Free work records. <br /> COORDINATION OF VARIOUS WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS to address <br /> pesticide safety, confined space entry, permit required <br /> confined space program, welding safety, proper lifting, <br /> bloodborne pathogens, asbestos determination, respirator <br /> safety, hazard communication program, hazardous waste <br /> handling, air ventilation checks, EMF readings and <br /> instructor first-aid and CPR training. Reduction of <br /> workers' compensation costs, promotion of safety <br /> awareness, monitoring of proper use of personal protective <br /> equipment, noise abatement, building and facility <br /> inspections, etc are all part of the program to comply <br /> with required state OSHA Standards to prevent injury and <br /> reduce workers' compensation costs and implement safety <br /> programs. <br /> <br />
