That's one hundred times greater than the currently established tax rate. That <br /> would be gross discrimination. <br /> I respectfully request that land recently covered by lava be removed from the tax roles until <br /> infrustructure is restored to provide access and water service. This will save the county tax <br /> department the incremental cost of servicing these properties. Actually, the discriminatory taxes <br /> collected since 1992 should be refunded. <br /> There is no evidence that adding one tax lotto the current tax rolls would increase the operating <br /> costs of the tax department by anything near $100. The Council should initiate a study to <br /> determine the actual incremental cost of adding a single tax lot to the tax rolls. <br /> The minimum tax should (at the most) be based on the incremental cost of adding a tax lot to the <br /> tax rolls. <br /> I respectfully request that the Hawaii County Council kill the bill to increase in minimum real <br /> estate taxes to $100 proposed by Councilman Curtis Tyler. <br /> Respectfully, <br /> Paul J. & Connie Takako Shank <br /> <br />
