Give reasons how new duties arose (statutes enacted, ordinances, newly <br /> authorized programs, basis for increased workloads, etc.): <br /> Federal grant funds have been awarded to establish a Community Oriented <br /> Prosecution unit in the Kona Office. A Deputy Prosecuting Attorney will lead the unit <br /> in implementing innovative and collaborative law enforcement and prosecution <br /> efforts. <br /> 2. Can new duties be assigned to existing positions or handled in other way such as <br /> short term contracts, etc. <br /> No, existing staff will not be able to handle the additional workload to be generated <br /> by the unit's mission. <br /> <br /> 3. How will new position increase the efficiency/effectiveness of operations? (Use <br /> productivity measurements where possible.): <br /> This deputy prosecuting attorney position will implement community oriented <br /> prosecution strategies to reduce and prevent crime and increase community <br /> involvement in the criminal justice process.
