Clandestine Laboratory Support Vehicle <br /> The specialized safety equipment used in investigating clandestine laboratories is <br /> cumbersome and creates a problem when there is a need to transport the equipment to <br /> a remote lab site. Because of this need for a transport vehicle that at times would <br /> have to be able to traverse remote areas, the Hawaii Police Department is in the <br /> process of researching vendors for afour-wheel-drive utility vehicle. The vehicle <br /> would be equipped to store and transport protective clothing, ventilation equipment, <br /> lighting equipment with generator, decontamination shower and equipment, and <br /> crime scene processing equipment. In addition to transporting equipment and <br /> supplies, this vehicle would accommodate transporting five to six persons and also <br /> serve as a command post at the lab site. <br /> 3. Hawaii County Police Department Clandestine Drug Laboratory Investigation <br /> Procedure Manual <br /> Establish Hawaii County Police Department procedures for the handling of <br /> clandestine laboratory investigations. <br /> 4. .Inter-Agency Response Protocol <br /> Develop the working relationship and written protocol for inter-agency involvement <br /> during a clandestine laboratory investigation. Agencies to include the Hawaii County <br /> Police Department, the Hawaii County Fire Department, Hawaii County Civil <br /> Defense, the State of Hawaii Department of Health, and the United Slates Drug <br /> Enforcement Agency. <br /> 5. Law Enforcement Training <br /> Conduct in-service training to police officers and recruit school training to new <br /> recruits in the recognition and reporting of clandestine laboratories. <br /> Conduct presentations to governmental agencies that have contact with the public out <br /> in the field such as probation officers, parole officers, building inspectors, and public <br /> health investigators. <br /> 6. Community Groups <br /> Conduct presentations to community organizations to include members of the realty <br /> board, property managers, neighborhood watch groups, and utility service personnel. <br /> <br />
