We are also in support and reorganisation of Hui Mamalahoa, an organization that was very strong and active by its original founder Mr. Thomas Solomon, known practitioner of la'au lapa'au, also being my maternal grandfather. In our continued research we note that Hui Mamalahoa was an organization in general concern of Open and Conservation Land usage and also stressed the importance of access for gathering and spiritual rights for the residents of Kohala. In fact, research has found that in the 70's a court ruling in favor of Hui Mamalahoa; granted public mauka-makai access within the North Kohala District. Therefore, regardless of whom holds ownership to the properties with granted access, this court ruling still stands as public record and it does not make the ruling void. The ruling is perpetual and must be disclosed to occupants of the said access areas. At this point it becomes the responsibility of whomever holds ownership to disclose to any new owner and occupant the information . Today, Kohala Surety should be consciously aware of this as a large landowner due to its transference of titles with any sales occurring from the 1970's. Our conce~ is~~T[to have c +'a~b ~°l~€ ~O.
