Police OfFicer II/Patrol <br /> Page 2 <br /> Patrols an assigned beat in a police vehicle or on foot to watch for and prevent <br /> Unauthorized and illegal activity; enforces all laws and ordinances; assists officers in <br /> adjoining beats as necessary; operates a police vehicle or on food to conduct checks of <br /> streets, park and beach areas; schools, drive-ins, and other places where juveniles <br /> frequent and congregate to discourage unauthorized activity; checks private, commercial, <br /> or public buildings as well as residences in the area to see that they are secured, operates <br /> a police vehicle to transport or relay suspects, witnesses and important materials to and from <br /> destinations; submits beat conditions. (1,2) 15% <br /> Investigates miscellaneous service cases I which automobiles are involved, such as <br /> Abandoned and derelict vehicles, unattended deaths, coroners inquest, etc.; investigates <br /> Industrial public, and home accidents; investigates violations of the animal control <br /> Ordinances and makes appropriate dispositions; performs deputy coroners functions as <br /> Required; gives first aid as needed; serves legal documents such as warrants, subpoenas, <br /> and penal summons when assigned; investigates miscellaneous public wmplaints such <br /> as domestics, minor nuisances, personal assistance, nolifiotions, civil matters, alamu, <br /> building checks, etc. and makes appropriate dispositions; provides assistance to other <br /> institutions or departments. (1,2) 15°/a <br /> Gives talks and partidpates in panel discussions on matters relating to crime and <br /> Delinquency; gives recruit and in-service training dasses as required; familiarizes self <br /> with General and Chief's Orders, administrative Notices, Personnel Orders, Police <br /> Bulletins, and other related materials. (1,2) 5% <br /> Maintains surveillance of subversive and radical elements in the community; attends and <br /> Controls demonstrations, rallies, and meetings, and observes, records, and reports on <br /> Happenings; partidpates in stake-outs, riot and mob control; partidpates in marijuana <br /> Eradiption projects; provides security for visiting dignitaries and officials as well as <br /> Witnesses under police custody and ensures their safety and prepares reports of activities; <br /> assists in crisis intervention disputes; may serves as an unden_over officer; may be temporarily <br /> assigned to plaindothes or detective duties, serves as temporary or relief dispatcher; examines <br /> and issues licenses to applicants for various types of driver licenses; escorts funeral processions <br /> and parades.
