Police Officer II <br /> Page 3 <br /> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: <br /> Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent <br /> to graduation from high school and one (1) year of work experience as a Police Officer I. <br /> Qualification for Firearms: Must be qualified to carry and/or possess firearm or ammunition <br /> in accordance with State and Federal laws, e.g. no misdemeanor or felony domestic violence <br /> conviction. <br /> License Reouirement: Possession of a valid State of Hawaii driver license (Class 3) or any <br /> other valid comparable motor vehicle operators license. <br /> Knowledge of: police principles, practices, methods, and techniques; the geography of the <br /> County of Hawaii; the social-economic composition of the community; the standard rules, policies, <br /> and procedures of the Hawaii County Police Department; pertinent County, State, and Federal laws <br /> and ordinances; the laws of arrest; court procedures. <br /> Abili to: interpret and explain laws, ordinances, and regulations; apply police principles, <br /> practices, methods, and techniques; give and follow oral and written instructions; deal courteously <br /> but finely with the general public; keep records and prepares simple reports. <br /> Special working conditions: irregular hours, shifts and weekend work, and exposure to <br /> hazards as required. <br /> Phvsical Requirements: <br /> Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical <br /> <br /> condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties. <br /> Phvsical Effort Grouping: Special <br /> <br />
