No further work on <br />these features were recommended. <br />22. Cultural Resources: According to the applicant, "the subject site is not adjacent and/or <br />proximate to the shoreline. As such, gathering of marine life and coastal access is not an <br />issue. <br />It is not known whether the subject or immediate surrounding area was used in the recent <br />past for the gathering of plants by native Hawaiians. However, as the site was partially <br />planted with avocado and coffee trees, as well as ornamental plants like ti and dracena <br />intermittently in the past, it would appear unlikely that the site would serve cis a native <br />Hawaiian gathering site today. " <br />In the unlikely event that legitimate gathering claims are made by native Hawaiians, the <br />applicant intends to respect and honor such claims and provided the needed access <br />within his property. <br />Based on the above, it does not appear that the project would have any potential adverse <br />impact relative to the cultural and historical resources of the area. " <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES AND SERVICES <br />23. Access: Access to the project site from the Mamalahoa Highway is provided by a <br />Homestead Road that maintains a pavement width of roughly 10 feet within a 20 -foot <br />wide right-of-way. The Mamalahoa Highway is a County -maintained roadway with a <br />pavement width of 18 to 20 feet within a right-of-way ranging from 40 to 50 feet. <br />24. Water: Water to support the proposed two -lot subdivision can be made available from <br />the County's water system along the Mamalahoa Highway. According to the applicant, <br />two water meters have already been purchased from the Department of Water Supply, <br />with each service intending to service each of the two proposed lots. Both an "elevation <br />agreement" and an `but -of -bounds agreement' were executed by the applicant with the <br />Department of Water Supply allowing these two meters to service the subject property. <br />The Department of Water Supply has confirmed the presence of the two existing service <br />laterals, but will require the construction of additional water system improvements should <br />
