Honorable James Y. Arakaki, Chairman
and Members of the County Council
Page 8
provides for smaller -scale agricultural lots while maintaining the rural and agricultural
atmosphere prevalent within this portion of North Kona. In addition, including a
condition to limit the construction of any second dwellings would minimize further
increase in density on the proposed lots and its associated impacts upon existing public
infrastructure. The project site will still remain within the State Land Use Agricultural
District, which would be consistent with the uses on surrounding agricultural lands.
Based on the above findings, approval of the Change of Zone request from Agricultural
(A -20a) to an Agricultural (A-l0a) and Family Agricultural (FA -3a) zoned district would
result in an appropriate land use pattern that will further benefit the public.
For your favorable consideration, an amendment to Section 25-8-3 (North Kona Zone Map), of
the County Zoning Code is transmitted.
We are enclosing a copy of the staff background for your information.
Sincerely,
i
Fred Galdones, Chairman
Planning Commission
Lduse102PC
Enclosures
cc: Mr. Sidney Fuke
Mr. James Dusel
Department of Public Works
Department of Water Supply
Planning Department - Kona
Department of Land & Natural Resources
Rodney Haraga, Director/DOT-Highways, Honolulu
