NACo Reports <br /> Vice President Kouchi reported that he has been appointed to the Environment, <br /> Energy and Land Use Steerine Committee by President Highto++~er. Cognizant that <br /> National Association of Counties (NACo) Bylaws prevent a member from sen'ing <br /> on two Steerin~_ Committees or from switching to another Steering Committee after <br /> being appointed to a Steering Committee. \%ice President Kouchi +vill further <br /> research this matter before tendering his resienation to the Agriculture and Rural <br /> Affairs Steering, Committee. <br /> Secretary-Treasurer Smith also reported his appointment by President Highton'er as <br /> a Vice Chair of NACo's Federal Land Payments Subcommittee of the Public Lands <br /> Steering Committee. <br /> D. WIR Reports <br /> Vice President Kouchi presented an overvie+v of activities planned for the 1997 <br /> WIR Conference on Kauai. He indicated that Mahalo Airlines will likely be offering <br /> a 5 day pass for $100. <br /> Kauai will have a booth at the NACo Legislatiae Conference to further publicize <br /> and entice participation at \~~IR 97 Assistance from other staff members as +vell as <br /> Council Members in manning this booth is appreciated as there will only be one staff <br /> member from Kauai_ The counties are each invited to put up one poster at this <br /> booth alone with any brochures. <br /> <br />
