Arakaki, Council Chair <br /> All Counci] Member <br /> t <br /> From Leningra~~~off, arming Chair <br /> Subject :The General Plan <br /> Planning Director Chris Yuen and I met with staff on Tuesday October 21, 2003 to shaze perspectives and facilitate <br /> a plan to deal with the General Plan and other planning issues. We agreed that the General Plan was of such <br /> importance [hat we needed to pull out efforts together and bring this process to a conclusion. It will demand <br /> cooperation and coordination between the Planning Department, the Planning Committee, and ultimately the County <br /> Council. As the committee chair, I provide this memo to you, [he committee members, to inform you of the <br /> scheduled plans and intentions. <br /> We will be holding a one day General Plan Workshop on December 18, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.. <br /> Planning Director Yuen will be making the presentation, dividing the material into three sections. There will be <br /> breaks between the sessions with questions and answers to follow at the end of the presentations. <br /> We encourage you to use the Holiday season to contact your constituents for comments to be included with your <br /> comments during [he first weeks of 2004. Those and other comments will [hen be assimilated and scheduled for <br /> discussion on merit relevant to inclusion into the General Plan. <br /> In dealing with the General Plan, on December 18, 2003, I would like the committee to consider an effort to simplify <br /> and consolidate the document by separating the supporting material from the ordinance. The supporting material <br /> will remain available in a separate document but not codified. <br /> As the Planning Committee chair, I humbly ask for your cooperation and input in the effort to complete this task in a <br /> reasonable time. <br /> LE/ma <br /> Xc.
