8. Department of Transportation-Airports Division Master Plan: According to <br />comments received from the Department of Transportation, the Airports Division <br />Master Plan for Hilo International Airport recommends that the Division acquire <br />the subject parcel of land as part of the runway protection zone for Runway 3. <br />DLNR is aware that if the Airports Division cannot acquire the land, the Division <br />will pursue obtaining an avigation easement. <br />9. Coastal Zone Management, FIRS, Chapter 205A: The entire State of Hawaii <br />lies within the Coastal Zone Management Area. The intent of the Coastal Zone <br />Management Program is to guide and regulate public and private uses in the <br />coastal zone management area with respect to recreational resources, historic <br />resources, public access to the shoreline, scenic and open space resources, coastal <br />ecosystems, marine resources, economic uses, coastal hazards, managing <br />development, public participation, and beach protection. The property is located <br />approximately I mile from the nearest coastline and therefore, will not be <br />impacted by coastal hazard and beach erosion. <br />10. Special Management Area (SMA): The Special Management Area is a part of <br />the Coastal Zone Management Program and regulated by the County. The <br />property is not located within the Special Management Area. There are no <br />identified recreational resources, historic resources, public access to the shoreline <br />or mountain areas, scenic and open space preserves, coastal ecosystems, marine <br />resources or other natural and environmental resources in the area. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY AND SURROUNDING AREA <br />
