CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY <br />CIVIL DEFENSE <br />1. Continue to review and update tsunami evacuation maps. <br />Excellent progress has been made in the "Review and Update Tsunami Maps" <br />challenge: <br />a. HCDA has leveraged the County GIS initiative to update the Big Island <br />Tsunami Maps to include new roads, subdivisions and other needed <br />changes. <br />b. A 1st Draft Map (utilizing the Kailua-Kona area as a test case) was <br />provided to Hawaii County Line Agencies and comments were solicited. <br />c. Upon completion of the recommended "format and layout' changes (now <br />80% complete) a final draft copy of the map will be provide to Hawaii <br />County Agencies and the Mayor for approval. (expect date: 1 Mar 04) <br />2. Continue the priority of working with all segments of the community in developing <br />emergency -response plans. <br />a. Work with the public sectors in hazard/risk awareness and response preparedness. <br />Review and update Police, public works, fire and parks Standard Operating <br />Procedure (SOP). <br />b. Continue to coordinate and participate in emergency preparedness exercises. <br />c. Continue to coordinate and participated in training for emergency response. <br />Community work in developing Emergency Response/Preparedness Plans: <br />• Community Forums to discuss Civil Defense for the individual, family and <br />community with regards to mitigation and preparedness have been <br />conducted for: <br />1) Hilo Realtors Assoc. <br />2) Kona Realtors Assoc. <br />3) Hawaii County Seniors Group <br />4) UH CSAV Class/program <br />5) Hilo High School <br />Participated in the Hawaii National Guard, 93rd Civil Support Team (CST) <br />(Weapons of Mass Destruction) Exercise. Participants included, but were <br />not limited to: <br />➢ Federal: FBI, US Coast Guard, US Army and American Red Cross. <br />➢ State: Dept of Health, DLNR, Transportation, DoD. <br />➢ County: Hawaii County Fire, Police, Public Works, Parks, and <br />Water Supply. <br />Six Month Progress Report on Program Objectives for FY 2003-04 <br />
