Subject A. -ea: The Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision encompasses approximately <br />10,000 acres and a major portion of the subdivision extends from the Pahoa <br />Government Road (Highway 130) to the shoreline. A portion of the subdivision is <br />located on the mauka side of Highway 130 which stretches in the vicinity of Kaloli <br />Drive toward Shower Drive. The subdivision was approved in 1959 which created <br />approximately 8,843 lots. Lots on the makai side and portion on the mauka side of the <br />Government Beach Road are 112 -acre lots and the remaining portion of the subdivision <br />are 1 -acre lots. There are twelve (12) 20 -acre lots which were designated or set aside <br />for community and park purposes, schools and shopping centers. <br />2. Land Ownership: There are approximately 6,500 individual lot owners. In addition, <br />Paradise Hui Hanalike owns 191 acres (8 20 -acre lots and 31 I -acre lots), Watumull <br />Properties owns 80 acres (4 20 -acre parcels and the County of Hawaii owns 8 acres <br />(beach park sites). <br />CHRONOLOGY <br />3. June 3, 1997: The Committee on Planning of the County Council moved to refer <br />Communication No. 267 - Hawaiian Paradise Park Community Master Plan. A Future <br />Vision for Our Community (March 1997), prepared by the Community Action <br />Committee of Paradise Hui Hanalike, to the Planning Commission for comments and <br />recommendations. <br />4. July 10, 1997: At its meeting, the Planning Commission voted to continue the hearing <br />on the Hawaiian Paradise Park Community Master Plan in order to allow the Planning <br />Director and Commission an opportunity to conduct a workshop in the community and <br />a site inspection of the subdivision. <br />
