TO: County Council
FROM: Betty Meyerson
74-5196 Kanai Place,
Kailua-Kona, HI 96740
DATE: June 16, 2004
RE: Bi11280
The Sign Code Revision has come a long way from its start several
councils ago. This long journey has resulted in a great deal of business,
community, and legal commentary over the years. These comments have been
clearly heard and incorporated in the revision to produce a concise, usable, and
easily enforced instrument.
Signs can only be effective if they can be seen by customers. If the current
clutter of banners, sandwich boards and other illegal signs continues, the
effectiveness of signs in general will be greatly reduced. They become lost in the
clutter! Potential shoppers may become annoyed rather than become shoppers.
At some point the process of revision must end or no law would ever be
passed. Members of the Council, today that time has come. After all your
careful consideration and public commentary I implore you to finally give birth to
this beautiful baby.
Comm.
