Arakaki, Chairman <br /> and Members of the County Council <br /> County of Hawaii <br /> 25 Aupum Street <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> <br /> Dear Chairman Arakaki and Members: <br /> <br /> Change of Zone Application (REZ 04-017) <br /> Applicant: Alyssa Ackerman <br /> Request: A-20a to FA-la <br /> Tax Map Key: 5-5-4:33 <br /> <br /> The Planning Commission, after a duly held public hearing on September 3, 2004, voted to <br /> recommend for your approval the proposed legislative bill to change the district classification <br /> from an Agricultural 20-acre (A-20a) to a Family Agricultural 1-acre (FA-la) district for <br /> approximately 3.936 acres of land. The property is located on the northeast side of Kokoiki <br /> Road, approximately 1,200 feet northwest of the Kokoiki Road - Akoni Pule Highway <br /> (Highway 270) intersection, Kokoiki, North Kohala, Hawaii. <br /> <br /> The Commission concurs with the following Planning Director's reasons for recommending <br /> favorable consideration of the change of zone: <br /> <br /> The applicant is requesting a Change of Zone to change the district classification <br /> from Agricultural 20-acre (A-20a) to Family Agricultural 1-acre (FA-la) for <br /> approximately 3.936 acres of land. One lot will be approximately 2.748 acres and will <br /> remain under the ownership of the current landowners. The other proposed lot will be <br /> approximately 1.188 acres and will be purchased by the applicant. The applicant owns <br /> and operates AK Essential Elements (Aloha Alyssa's), which makes Hawaiian lotions. <br /> The applicant intends to use the property to grow roses, papayas, avocados, aloe vera, <br /> gardenia and plumeria for her lotion and body care business. <br />
