<br /> STATEWIDE MARIJUANA ERADICATION TASK FORCE <br /> PROJECT NO. 02-DB-19 <br /> REPORT TO COUNTY COUNCIL <br /> MARCH 1, 2004 -AUGUST 31, 2004 <br /> PAGE 2 <br /> B. PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: <br /> 1. During this reporting period, task force efforts were concentrated on <br /> marijuana eradication as well as locating and identifying persons cultivating <br /> marijuana. <br /> a. On March 3, 2004, a search warrant was executed at a residence on a <br /> coffee farm in Honaunau, in the District of Kona, Hawaii. Officers <br /> discovered a sophisticated indoor marijuana grow operation and <br /> recovered 1,103 marijuana plants, 4.16 pounds of processed marijuana, <br /> and two rifles with one being a stolen AR-15 assault rifle from Oahu. <br /> Two males, one age 44 and the other age 42, were arrested. The Drug <br /> Enforcement Administration (DEA) adopted the investigation to seek <br /> Federal prosecution. <br /> b. On July 2, 2004, a search warrant was executed at a residence located <br /> in the Kahuku Country Subdivision, in the District of Kau, Hawaii. <br /> Officers recovered 1,021 marijuana plants on the property and the <br /> surrounding area. Three male suspects, one age 53 and two age 20, <br /> were arrested. The investigation is pending adoption by DEA. <br /> c. On July 12, 2004, a search warrant was executed at a residence located <br /> in Mountain View, Hawaii. Officers recovered 411 marijuana plants, <br /> 282.2 grams of processed marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Officers <br /> arrested and charged a 57-year-old male. <br /> d. On July 27, 2004, a search warrant was executed at a residence located <br /> on Lama Street, in the District of South Hilo, Hawaii. Officers recovered <br /> 209 marijuana plants, 326 grams processed marijuana, two rifles (one of <br /> which was converted to a full automatic), and seven pistols. Officers <br /> arrested and charged a 47-year-old male. The Alcohol, Tobacco, and <br /> Firearms Bureau (ATF) have adopted the investigation to seek Federal <br /> prosecution. <br /> 2. The Statewide Marijuana Eradication Task Force Grant has allowed task <br /> force officers to attend the following training during this reporting period: <br /> a. On May 10-17, 2004, two officers attended a rappel training course on <br /> Oahu; <br /> <br />
