<br /> STATEWIDE MARIJUANA ERADICATION TASK FORCE <br /> PROJECT NO. 02-DB-19 <br /> REPORT TO COUNTY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> MARCH 1, 2004 -AUGUST 31, 2004 <br /> PAGE 3 <br /> b. On May 17-21, 2004, one officer attended a rappel training course on <br /> Oahu; <br /> c. On June 20-26, 2004, one officer attended a rappel training course on <br /> Oahu; <br /> d. On August 5-6, 2004, three officers attended an Intelligence Conference <br /> on Kauai. <br /> <br /> C. OUTCOME/IMPACT INDICATORS: <br /> 1. Grant funds have enabled Hawaii County to continue a vigorous and <br /> pro-active eradication program resulting in arrests and seizures of assets. <br /> Our coordinated efforts have had a crippling effect on the marijuana industry <br /> in the State of Hawaii. <br /> 2. Hawaii County has provided and received inter-agency assistance that <br /> resulted in several Statewide coordinated enforcement efforts, including <br /> stake-out operations, and search warrant operations and/or investigations. <br /> 3. Our personnel continue to receive the necessary training to keep us current <br /> on eradication and investigative techniques. Through coordinated efforts and <br /> frequent meetings, the task force has developed and maintained effective <br /> guidelines relative to reconnaissance and marijuana eradication missions and <br /> communication in the sharing of information. <br /> 4. In addition to our enforcement program, in response to numerous requests <br /> from the community, task force personnel continue to maintain a drug <br /> prevention and education program. The following drug awareness <br /> presentations were made during this reporting period: <br /> a. March 16, 2004 -Hawaii State Welfare Employees (30 people present); <br /> b. April 7, 2004 -University of Hawaii Nursing Students (45 people in <br /> attendance); <br /> c. April 8, 2004 -Hilo Union Elementary School (12 staff personnel in <br /> attendance); <br /> <br />
