Please accept my regrets <br /> for not joitimg today's committee session, as my rehabilitation proceeds following recent hip surgery. <br /> I hope to rejoin you soon. <br /> However, l can join you today via this letter end request that you give some thought to some <br /> simple questions about our General Plan as follows: <br /> 1. Can we find some compromise between the cumbersome "Manhattan phone book" that is <br /> Drag 1 and tbe more cogent, reader-friendly, and reasonable text of Draft 2 or Draft 3? <br /> 2. Can we delete those amendments in Drag 1 that compromise the County's agreemcrtts of <br /> record affecting Kohanaiki, Keopuka, and Holculia, rather than subjecting the council, the <br /> plerming director, the plarmmig commissicm and the public to marry more rounds of interim <br /> and uncertain amendmerns't <br /> 3. With due diligence, can we fully consider each of the many comanunications on today's <br /> agenda received firom members of the public -including citizens from my district -that find <br /> fault with Drag 1 or beg for its rcevahurtion? <br /> 4. On maters of public facilities and protective scrvioes -pages 220-223 relating to wunscling <br /> centers, aeromedieal helicopters, numlxxs of police officers, and first responder standards, <br /> etc. -can we exercise the good judgment to amend these sectioru so we don't tie our hands <br /> poimlessly or invite hivolous lawsuits for failure to meet impossible standards? <br /> 5. Where inconsisteru:ies or confusing statements are evident - i.e., pages 109 and 110, can we <br /> take tlrc time to correct them in a new draft?
