Flags may be considered not to be siens. A sign as defined under <br /> the Hawaii County Code includes any announcement, declazation, <br /> demonstration, display, illustration or insignia, used to advertise or <br /> promote the interests of any person when it is placed out of doors on <br /> real property or buildings or structures on real property or buildings <br /> in view of the general public. Flags of nations and states aze not <br /> considered signs because they do not advertise or promote the interest <br /> of any person, but rather they symbolize the unity and ideals of <br /> people. When used to promote or advertise the interests of people a <br /> flag is considered a sign. <br /> B. When flaw are not considered siens, there is no limit on the <br /> number of siens allowed. <br /> C. International Motors could have un to two siens ner street <br /> frontaee. Section 3-25 sets the maximum number of signs allowed <br /> for each business at two signs per street frontage. Of the two signs <br /> allowed, each one must conform to one of the types of sign permitted <br /> under the district classification. For example, in a commercial district <br /> with two street frontages, Street "A" could have a ground sign and <br /> wall sign. and Street "B" could have a ground sign and a root sign. <br /> <br />
