Pepeekeo Filipino Association
P. O. Box 174
Pepeekeo, Hawaii 96783
RE: Bill Nos. 355 & 356
Application for Rezoning by Continental Pacific, LLC
Aloha Chairman Safarik and Members of the Council,
On behalf of the members of the Pepeekeo Filipino Association, I am submitting
testimony in support of the Bills Nos. 355 and 356. At our February 13, 2005 general
membership meeting, our members again validated the organization's initial support of
Continental Pacific, LLC's request for rezoning noted in the bills.
Members of the PFA have been involved in numerous community meetings over the past
4 years where discussions on various concerns relating to Continental Pacific, LLC's
presence and impact in the community were heard and discussed. We have also had
discussions among our own members and have, on several occasions, agreed on
supporting the rezoning applications.
Many of our members are seniors who can still remember the time of their lives when
they lived and worked in the Pepeekeo sugar plantation camps. We realize that with
time, comes change...the camps and sugaz industry are no longer. In our lifetime, we
have lived through change and have seen the face of their community transform and
conform to its present state. We have been and are wise to be involved in these changes
through our participation, discussion and guidance in the direction of these changes.
We ask for your support and approval of Bills 355 and 356, and join us as we guide the
direction of change in our community.
Thank you for this opportunity to submit our supportive testimony.
Sincerely,

Rosita Cabatu

President
Comm. No. 2•
Ref. To; ireu~l~
Ref. Dote
