MuvuT>as <br /> Kahatu'n Housing Svhcommittee <br /> Hui Lav Lima <br /> July 5, 2002 <br /> Present: Wally Lau, Jack Ferguson, Pastor James Texiera, Rodell Smith, Lynnese Acia, <br /> Mel Fujino, Ann Peterson, Pat Olivenia, Virginia Isbell, Jan Marrack <br /> Purpose of the meeting was to have those involved in various initiatives at Kahalu'u <br /> Housing meet each other, share information, and strategize as to how to best work <br /> together to impmve the conditions at Ka Hale Kahalu'u. <br /> Pat with Community Empowerment under the Prosecuting Attorney's Office has put <br /> together a flow chart to help clarify the service delivery to Ka Hale Kahalu'u This chart <br /> was circulated. Michael Hee is the cormact administrator and is directly under E.D. <br /> Sharyn Miyashiro. <br /> Jack has been trying to get a copy of the property management contracts, both the current <br /> contract with Urban Realtyand the previous contract with them. Mel said that he had <br /> talked to Keith Oda who will send a copy of the current contract and documents for the <br /> three-yeaz management renewal. Once these contracts have been reviewed, a letter will <br /> be sent to The Board of Directors at HCDCH with copies to Mike Flores at HUD. Letters <br /> of support are welcome and can be sent to Mel's office. <br /> Pat is going to follow up an the $50,000 grant from HCDCH to the Ili County Police to <br /> provide activities for youth at Kahalu'u and other low income housing. It may also be <br /> available to help set up community associations. The grant has been available for at least <br /> two years, and only ante has there been an activity at Kahalu'u. What exactly is this <br /> grant for and who is monitoring this grant? It has to have been approved by the County <br /> Council. <br /> Ann is working with Lynnese Acia io set up a Resident Association. Bob Young and Lee <br /> Afuvai with Resident Services at HCDCH Dame over to assist Property Manager, Lisa <br /> Faleafine, was not available. A representative from a Resident Association in W. Hi is <br /> eligible to sit on the Resident Advisory Boazd of HCDCH. <br /> Ann will review policy to find out if Urban Management can use the tenant's Recreation <br /> Room as an office. Pat will check on laws regarding nepotism. Virginia said they,should <br /> be in the State HRS. <br /> Pastor Tex says they are working at Kahalu'u every third Saturday. In July they will pick <br /> up kids who need a ride to get free school supplies. His volunteers have attempted to <br /> improve the property, but there has been confusion about the approval process. They <br /> <br /> have worked ou the grounds and have painted the laundry room.
