b. Elementary School Program: <br /> (1) Provide tutorial service during the day in DOE classroom under the <br /> supervision of regular classroom teacher. <br /> (2) Provide after-school services of homework guidance, oasic language <br /> instruction, social skills enhancement activities, and multicultural <br /> activities to reinforce language skills. By proving classroom projects <br /> that involve students to read, write, and speak Standazd English, we will <br /> offer opportunities to the students to improve their language skills. <br /> (3) Development of Multicultural Awazeness and Appreciation: <br /> Multicultural activities will be planned in order to promote acceptance <br /> of other cultures and the understanding and appreciation of the <br /> participants' own cultures, Strategies used will be: bibliotherapy, use of <br /> parents, relatives, siblings, community resources and field trips. Other <br /> strategies will include using holidays from the different cultures in <br /> preparing lessons to provide interest, awareness and appreciation. <br /> (4) Improve students' to become self-disciplined, self-actualizing leamers <br /> by teaching decision making skills so that the students will develop the <br /> ability to become independent thinkers and learners, making decisions <br /> based on facts, logic and science by using role-playing and biliotherapy, <br /> use of stories about substance abuse when appropriate. <br /> (5) Provide learning activities that reinforce students' lessons learned during <br /> the day. <br /> (6) Build in monthly in-service workshops/meetings for the LAMP staff <br /> with topics such as: Management techniques, teaching strategies, <br /> learning principles. <br /> (7) Initiate parent involvement and education opportunities for individual <br /> parents or groups of parents at meetings. Use parents as resources, <br /> demonstrators, chaperones, and tutors. <br /> <br /> 9. Budget: Budget is attached. <br /> <br />
