The process allowed people from all walks of life to provide their thoughts about what Hilo should look like in 20 years and how those ideas could be implemented. Many of those ideas were excellent, many will take a commitment of funding and volunteer help but almost all of them were worthy of discussion and consideration. The process was interesting and enabling to those who participated. The results of the process are what you have before you today. Again, many of the ideas are excellent and many will need funding and volunteer help to implement. I would urge you to agree with this plan by passing it as it has been presented. Although a few of the ideas may not merit the effort or expense of bringing them to fruition, the overall effort by such a diverse group of community visionaries, private industry leaders, government agency participants and those facilitators who are committed to seeing the Plan through is worthy of your favorable consideration. Kudos to Susan Gagorik, Susan O'Neil, Alice Moon and others who put forth the effort to see the process through to the completed Plan for Downtown Hilo that you have before you today.
