Stacy Higa, Chairman <br /> <br /> and Members of the County Council <br /> <br /> Page 6 <br /> A favorable recommendation of this request will also conform to the following <br /> goals and policies of the Land Use-Multiple Family Residential and Housing Elements of <br /> the General Plan: <br /> LAND USE -MULTIPLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL <br /> • To provide for multiple residential developments that maximize convenience for <br /> its occupants. <br /> • To provide for suitable living environments that accommodate the physical, social <br /> and economic needs of the island residents. <br /> • Appropriately zoned lands shall be allocated as the demand for multiple <br /> residential dwellings increases. These areas shall be allocated with respect to <br /> places of employment, shopping facilities, educational, and recreational and <br /> cultural faciliries, and public facilities and utilities. <br /> • Encourage flexibility in the design of residential sites, buildings and related <br /> facilities to achieve adiversity ofsocio-economic housing mix and innovative <br /> means of meeting the market requirements. <br /> • Development shall be located in areas where public utilities can be economically <br /> provided at a level adequate to meet the demand for the concentrated service. <br /> HOUSING <br /> • Attain safe, sanitary, and livable housing for the residents of the County of <br /> Hawaii. <br /> • Attain adiversity ofsocio-economic housing mix throughout the different parts of <br /> the County. <br /> • Maintain a housing supply that allows a variety of choices. <br /> • Create viable communities with affordable housing and suitable living <br /> environments. <br /> <br />
