Under the proposed change, our street
will experience a huge increase in traffic flow on school days between 7:15 a.m.
and 8:00 a.m. Because Alae Street is a relatively narrow road, with a 20
Mile Per Hour speed limit, no dividing line, and no sidewalks, we are especially
concerned for the safety of our children as they attempt to either walk or
ride their bikes to school in the morning.
We are appealing to you to find some other way in which to address traffic
problems stemming from morning rush hour traffic on Waianuenue Avenue.
Redirecting the traffic flow from amain artery onto a residential street
that is without sidewalks is putting the residents of our street, particularly
young children, at great risk.
We have attached a petition signed by fifty residents of Alae Street (between
Ljaimana and Halai) opposing the intent of Bill 145. Clearly, the proposed
traffic change does not address the issue of pedestrian safety on Alae Street,
and for this reason we ask you to vote against Bill 145.
Sincerely, - / `
Thomas O'Neill
Reiko O'Neill
Comm. liq~.
1Ris lbw T
1e[ ~resenfed COJNU(-
RRet.
