Equipment): <br /> The County's Library still resides in the old office space, unable to be relocated to the new <br /> office until new and better shelving is acquired for the periodicals and reference materials. <br /> <br /> Public Works <br /> <br /> $75,910 Public Works Administration - OCE: <br /> Additional Funding is requested for the following items/projects: (Miscellaneous Contractual <br /> Services - $71,750). <br /> Waikoloa Emergencv Road Materials ($60,000): <br /> The proposed gravel road project will connect Waikoloa Village to the Queen <br /> Ka'ahumanu Highway. The purpose of the project is to provide an alternate route for <br /> Waikoloa residents to evacuate the village in the event of an emergency. The Waikoloa <br /> Community Association will be contributing $90,000 towards the project. <br /> Headsets for Dozer Operators for Wildland Fires ($11,000): <br /> The headsets for dozer operators are needed to provide communication between Fire <br /> Department and Public Works field supervisors to effectively direct where County and <br /> private bulldozers should cut fire breaks during wildland fire operations. The headsets <br /> will also be used in other emergency situations by the Fire Department to communicate <br /> with field supervisors and dispatched field personnel. <br /> Fire Department & DPW Incident Command System Training ($750): <br /> Some of the new Highway Maintenance Division personnel need hands on training to <br /> learn how Public Works interfaces with the Fire Department to direct resources in <br /> response to a variety of emergency situations. The Incident Command System (ICS) <br /> training will allow the DPW Supervisors to practice command and control skills in the <br /> fields under simulated emergency conditions. <br /> Due to the increase in the amounts given towards employee's service and retirement awards, <br /> additional funding is being requested. (Employee Awards - $4,160). <br /> $56,000 Automotive Division -Equipment (Miscellaneous Equipment) <br /> Due to the EPA's April I, 2006 deadline to implement the use of ethanol fuel, seven (7) of <br /> the Public Works' fuel pumps are being replaced to be in compliance with the Federal <br /> requirements. <br /> PC REPORT NO. 236 <br /> <br />
